Cameras and Screen Sharing FAQ
What you point at the audience and what you put on screen beside it. These answers cover camera sources, switching between them, and the different ways to share a screen during a broadcast.
Can I use more than one camera in a live stream?
Yes. Cameras are sources you add to the production, and several can sit in the same workspace ready to go on air.
This works both in FeelThere Desktop and in FeelThere Studio in the browser.
How do I switch between cameras during a broadcast?
Put each camera in its own scene, prepare the next one in Preview, and send it to Program when you want the audience to see it.
That way the switch happens on purpose rather than in front of viewers.
Does FeelThere work with a USB webcam?
Yes. Any camera your computer already recognises as a video device can be added as a camera source.
If the camera works in other applications on that machine, it is available to the production.
Can I use a DSLR or mirrorless camera as a source?
If the camera presents itself to the computer as a standard video device, it can be used like any other camera source.
Most larger cameras need either a capture card or the manufacturer software that exposes the camera as a webcam.
Do I need a capture card for a professional camera?
Only if the camera has no other way to appear as a video device on the computer. A capture card converts its output into something the machine can read.
Cameras that already offer a webcam mode do not need one.
Can I use my phone as a second camera?
A phone can join the production as a guest, which is the straightforward way to add a second angle from the room or from somewhere else entirely.
FeelThere Mobile is also a complete broadcasting app in its own right when the phone is the whole production.
How do I share my screen while live streaming?
Add screen sharing as a source and choose what to share. It becomes part of the production rather than something that replaces your camera.
This works both in FeelThere Desktop and in the browser studio.
Can I share one window instead of the whole screen?
Yes. You can share a full screen, a single application window, or one browser tab.
Sharing a single window is the safer choice when notifications or other applications might appear.
Can I share a browser tab with its audio?
Yes. A shared tab can carry the audio that belongs to it, so a video or a demo plays with sound for viewers.
That audio then sits alongside your microphone in the production.
Does my camera stay visible while I share a screen?
Yes. Your camera stays on as a picture-in-picture while the shared screen fills the rest of the frame.
Viewers keep seeing you rather than only the thing you are presenting.
How do I place the camera over a shared screen?
Both are sources in the same scene, so you position and resize them on the canvas the way you want them to appear.
Save it as a scene and the arrangement is there for the next broadcast.
Can I share two screens at the same time?
In FeelThere Desktop you can combine multiple screen shares inside one production, alongside cameras and other visual sources.
Useful when a presentation sits beside a live dashboard or a second application.
What resolution should my camera be set to?
Matching the resolution you intend to broadcast avoids unnecessary scaling. FeelThere supports up to Full HD 1080p.
A higher camera setting than your output does not improve what viewers see and asks more of the machine.
How do I frame a shot for both horizontal and vertical destinations?
Keep anything important near the centre. A 16:9 frame and a 9:16 crop of the same production share the middle and differ at the edges.
Framing is set per destination, so the vertical cut is not simply the horizontal one squeezed.
Why does my camera look dark on stream?
Usually the room rather than the camera. A camera facing a bright window will expose for the window and leave you in shadow.
Put your main light in front of you rather than behind, and check the picture in Preview before it reaches Program.
Can I crop or zoom a camera source?
Camera sources can be resized, positioned and cropped on the canvas, so a wide camera can be framed tighter without moving the camera itself.
Visual filters can also adjust how the source looks before it reaches the audience.
What happens if a camera is unplugged mid-broadcast?
That source stops delivering a picture while the rest of the production continues. The broadcast itself does not end.
Having a second scene ready without that camera is the practical insurance.
Can a guest share their screen instead of me?
Guests join from their own browser through a link, and what they bring becomes part of your production.
You decide who goes on air and when, so a guest appearing is still your call.
